ELITE ISLAND RESORTS’ NEWEST ADDITIONS RECEIVE TOP INDUSTRY HONORS

St. James’s Club Morgan Bay Saint Lucia and The Club Barbados earn 2013 Magellan Awards

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – September 19, 2013

Elite Island Resorts proudly announces that the two most recent additions to its extensive collection of Caribbean beachfront resorts have earned 2013 Magellan Awards by Travel Weekly.  Honoring the best in the travel industry, the Magellan Awards salute the travel organizations that represent the highest standards of excellence in hospitality.  This year’s recipients include St James’s Club Morgan Bay, Saint Lucia, which received a Gold Magellan Award in the family resort and hotel category, and The Club Barbados Resort & Spa, which received a Silver Magellan Award in the upscale resort and hotel category.  Each property has completed extensive renovations and re-branding since becoming a part of the Elite Island Resorts family.

“We are pleased to see that the efforts to upgrading the experience at St. James’s Club Morgan Bay and The Club Barbados to our superior brand standards have not gone unnoticed,” said Steven Heydt, president of Elite Island Resorts.  “This industry recognition confirms that our properties are leaders in their respective categories, from family travel to adults-only.”

Gold winner St James’s Club Morgan Bay, Saint Lucia is the newest family-friendly offering from Elite Island Resorts.  Said to reflect the long-standing excellence of its sister property St. James’s Club & Villas in Antigua, the newly rebranded, all-inclusive resort recently completed a multi-million-dollar makeover, which included a full remodel of the resort’s four freshwater swimming pools, upgrades to the bar areas, the addition of new décor and the installation of flat-screen televisions in all guestrooms and suites.  The resort has also relocated and expanded the Tranquility Spa, which now offers a peaceful hillside setting, tranquil water views and Pevonia spa products.

Set amid 25 acres of colorful hillside gardens tucked into a private cove on the island’s northern coast, this beachfront resort features a wealth of all-included offerings for families:  a variety of room categories, including family suites; five distinct restaurants and bars; an adult-supervised kids’ club for potty-trained children ages 4 to 11; a family pool with slides and shallow-wading areas; and on-property water sports and activities such as tennis, sailing, kayaking and snorkeling.

Taking home silver in the upscale resort and hotel category is The Club Barbados Resort & Spa.  As the newest adults-only offering by Elite Island Resorts, The Club provides a tranquil hideaway for adult travelers.  In addition to its rebranding, The Club received a resort-wide makeover last year, including refurbishing all 161 guestrooms and suites, installing flat-screen televisions, refreshing both dining outlets, adding an on-property gift shop, installing new awnings for the pool area and ground-floor rooms with patios, placing new loungers by the pool and landscaping the entire property.

With an idyllic waterfront setting surrounded by verdant, tropical gardens, the comfortably chic resort features a fully comprehensive all-inclusive program, including dining at two distinct restaurants offering both indoor and al fresco dining, three freshwater swimming pools, a freshwater Jacuzzi, outdoor recreational activities such as tennis and volleyball, a fully equipped fitness center, a spa and a variety of water sports including windsurfing, kayaking and snorkeling.
